AH HA! Moments

Happy Hump Day everyone! Am I the only one who kept thinking all day that tomorrow is Friday? I mean, I need all the time I can get…but I wouldn’t complain if it were one day closer to the weekend!

Last night I made an AWESOME announcement…that after only two months, I’ve dropped another jean size and am now comfortably in a size 14.

But I also left you hanging, saving my next awesome announcement for today! And here we are. So, without further ado…

Last week, I was perusing Twitter, and I saw a tweet from a fellow fitblogger, @runningknitwit:

Not only did I think this was awesome for her, but this tweet also got me thinking…I haven’t checked my BMI in ages. Maybe not since I first started this whole weight loss journey. So I pulled up the BMI calculator on the CDC’s website…first I figured out what my BMI was when I first started, at 283 pounds.

Then, I figured out what my BMI was at my last weigh in, at 219 pounds.

Like @runningknitwit, I also have just entered the “Overweight” category! AMAZING!!!

According to Wikipedia, at a BMI of 38.4 I was morbidly obese.

I was wearing a size 20-22 pants and a XXL in tops. I sometimes had a hard time squeezing in chairs, like at the hairstylist or in a restaurant. I was easily winded when going up a flight of stairs, and my knees and lower back always hurt.

Now, at a BMI of 29.7, I’m simply “overweight”.

I wear a size 14 jeans and a medium or a large in tops. I don’t get winded climbing the stairs and my knees don’t hurt anymore. I don’t cringe when I slide into a booth at a dinner out with friends.

At 64 pounds lost, I look totally different.

I FEEL totally different.

And it’s a totally GREAT feeling!

I may be just under the cutoff for “overweight” versus “obese”, but I’ll take it! I’ll count it as another great accomplishment as I continue to lose weight, pound by pound, getting closer to “normal weight”! Towards my healthy, happy weight.

How about you? Tell me something great that you accomplished recently!

See you tomorrow!

An AWESOME Announcement

I have some pretty AWESOME announcements to make. First of all, after days and weeks of me whining about the cold, rainy northern California weather, it’s SUNNY out today! And it’s like 75*!! And my favorite tree is green and leafy and beautiful! But really, that’s no big deal. Here is something much, much more [...]

New Biggest Loser Starts Tonight!

Time for a whole new season of laughs, tears and inspiration! The new season of Biggest Loser starts tonight and I’m SO excited. Mom has watched the show for years but I only started really watching it last season. Partly because I was finally coming to terms with my own weight problem, and partly because [...]

Someday?

“You can’t do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about it’s width and depth.”   –Shira Tehrani I love this quote. Just a few months ago, I was living in a “Land of Someday”. Someday I’ll lose the weight. Someday I’ll get fit. Someday I’ll have the body I [...]

Weigh-In Time!!

I know, I know…you’re thinking, “Melissa! It’s not Sunday. Weigh-in day is SUNDAYS.” And you’d be right. BUT…since tomorrow is a holiday, AND more importantly, tomorrow is the day that we move my mom’s entire store from one location to another, I don’t think I’ll have time to weigh-in tomorrow. Thusly, I wanted to get [...]

“Reach high, for stars lie hidden in your soul. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal.” Pamela Vaull Starr

I know I said I was going to post again on Thursday with my starting weight and some goals. Obviously that didn’t happen. It could be for one of three reasons: 1. I was busy after work with my personal training appointment, finishing the mountain of laundry left over from The Great Apartment Cleanup on [...]

A new season, a new adventure.

June 21st, 2010. The summer solstice. The longest day and shortest night of the year. How appropriate that a girl who is done with the dark places and is ready to chase the sunshine should start her blog on the first day of summer. My name is Melissa, my blog is “Journey to Marvelous”, and [...]
