UGH! On Monday night I got the Worst. Night. Of Sleep. Ever. It was a total flashback to January when anxiety attacks had me waking up at 3am, unable to go back to sleep. And unable to function for practically the rest of the day.
Not sure what the cause was…maybe I was just worried about my camera! Haha…just kidding. Sort of.
I dragged myself out of bed at the very last second and just grabbed some fruit for breakfast on my way to the office. This cup of cherries was my breakfast…
I usually sleep better when I work out, so I was surprised that after Body Pump on Monday night, I couldn’t sleep. I decided that I better go to my appointment with Trainer at lunch and do my cardio interval training. Even though I felt like crap, maybe it would help me sleep a little better.
On my way to the gym, I scarfed down this sandwich…2 ounces of turkey breast and a slice of pepper jack cheese, plain on whole grain bread.
I felt exhausted after training, but definitely better mentally. I don’t know why lack of sleep spins me out mentally, but it totally does. By the end of the day, I was so drained that I almost cancelled on my Active 20-30 meeting. Then I decided that I should just go…I headed out to the pizza parlor where our meeting was being held and ordered some dinner…
I ordered a small veggie delight pizza and ate about half of it. I love ranch dressing with my pizza but usually pass on it these days. Not today! Because I hardly ate anything during the day (relatively speaking), I had about 2 tablespoons of ranch dressing with my pizza.
Luckily, now that it’s Wednesday morning I can say that I slept much better after my meeting, my pizza, and an episode of Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition! Phew. What a relief!
How about you? How do you cope with a terrible night’s sleep? Does it spin you out, or do you take it in stride?

I hear you on the bad night’s sleep ruining your day. At least it would have ruined mine. I find when I exercise later in the day it’s hard for me to wind down and sleep well. Maybe that had ssomething to do with it? Glad you slept better last night though! Good for you for pushing through.
I might try morning workouts from now on…but I have such a hard time dragging myself out of bed! I hope you’re getting better sleep these days too!
I’m definitely with you on the lack of sleep. I’m a complete waste of space if I go a few days without catching up.
Michelle, I agree with you on the exercising too late at night. Morning time is the way to go!
Hooray for Alex’s first comment!
I prefer exercise late in the day (~8:00pm), but scheduling issues usually keep this from happening, so I end up training earlier in the day.
One lousy night’s sleep I can handle, but a few lousy nights strung together are something else entirely.

Lucky it was just one night, this time…but I agree, a few bad nights strung together leaves me pulling my hair out!
Pulling your hair out? Would you like me to help you with your sleep habits so that can be avoided?
Hahaha…so to speak my dear. Don’t you worry!
