Happy Monday everyone!
I got up early this morning and planned out my workouts for the week. Like I said yesterday in my weigh-in post, I’m going to start planning out my workouts and keeping them as if they were appointments. I think that planning workouts this way will help keep me on track!
I also made myself a yummy breakfast…two slices of Trader Joe’s french toast with a tablespoon or so of Bonne Maman blackberry preserves! The last time I ate maple syrup on my french toast I had a sugar hangover/stomachache for the rest of the day so I decided to try some jam this time around. It has just as much sugar as pure maple syrup (13g per tbsp), but I used a lot less jam than I would have syrup…it’s so easy to overdose on the syrup! I think I’ll use jam from now on.
For a late morning snack, I finished a bag of baked chips (about 2 ounces of pieces and crumbs) and 1/4 cup of mixed nuts.
For lunch, I treated myself to sushi! I’ve been craving sushi for a couple of weeks so I decided to get some takeout for lunch today.
I got an Alaska roll (salmon and avocado) and a Hawaiian roll (tuna and avocado). A little low-sodium soy sauce and I was good to go!
I headed to my first scheduled workout of the week right after work…a Body Pump class at the gym! I did some Body Pump classes a month or so ago, but took a break after I tweaked my neck and upper back and had to go to the chiropractor. I’m still seeing the chiropractor for maintenance care, but my back is feeling 100% better and I decided it was high time I got back into the gym! The new routine was challenging and by the end of class my legs were like wobbly noodles. It was great!
I came home after my class and made a quick turkey, avocado and pepper jack cheese sandwich for dinner. After my carb-heavy sushi rice lunch, I pondered having a salad but decided that I needed some protein and carbs after my challenging session at the gym.
Also on the menu? A peach so good it would make you cry. Farmer John brought peaches, Gravenstein apples, beans, summer squash and fresh eggs to the office today. This ginormous peach was so delicious I can’t even do it justice!
Fresh, local fruit is so. much. better. than the store-bought stuff! All I’m gonna say is if you’re not taking advantage of your farmers market, roadside fruit stands and the next-door neighbors vegetable garden right now, you’re crazy!
CRAZY.
CRAZY DELISH.
I’m going to throw on some pj’s and settle down to watch Bachelor Pad…my no-longer-secret Monday night guilty pleasure. Hope you had a great Monday!
How about you? Have you been reveling in the summer bounty of locally grown fruits and veggies? What is the best thing you’ve had to far?
