The New Tornado Alley

March 19, 2011 · 0 comments

Yesterday morning there was a tornado about 5 blocks from my downtown office.

Whoa, WHAT?!?

It’s true! When my assistant came into work a little late, she said that a tree had fallen on Pacific Avenue…just a few blocks from where I was sitting at my desk, working away and checking out the tornado warning that was issued for San Mateo County (50 miles or more away from here) on Twitter. It was raining. It was a little windy. It’s hailed a little. No big deal.

Then when I got home and flicked on the television, I saw THIS:

A rain-wrapped tornado?? It’s just like on “Storm Chasers”!

Source.

I *love* that show.

So naturally, I decided that on my way over to Mom & Dad’s, I would go survey the damage.

They must have already cleaned up the alleged fallen tree, because all I saw were a few branches on the sidewalk.

Mildly disappointing. Err, I mean, I’m glad there was no damage! (Really, I am.)

I got a text this morning from my BFF Amy, who is in Dallas this weekend: “Are you guys okay? Santa Rosa is on the news here!” I had to laugh…our little twister made the news 4 states away?

Although if they had an earthquake in Nebraska, I’m sure we’d hear about it too. Every part of the country has their own special type of natural disaster, don’t they?
