It’s that time again…it’s Try Something New Tuesday!
Here is what we’re trying today…Garlic Gold Parmesan Nuggets!
(Hello, giant photo of my baseball-mitt-like hand. That photo is just slightly larger than life size. Practically.)
Sorry guys.
ANYWAY.
I ordered the Garlic Gold nuggets through OpenSky after seeing them on a bunch of other healthy living and food blogs like Kath Eats Real Food and Carrots ‘N Cake. I need more veggies in my life, as we all know, and I thought that the Garlic Gold nuggets would be a nice steamed veggie or salad topper.
I steamed a pile of broccoli, zucchini and mushrooms and then sprinkled the Garlic Gold on.
All in all, I enjoyed it…I think I prefer a sauce to a sprinkled seasoning (my favorite stir-fry or steamed vegetable sauce is Trader Joe’s Island Soyaki), but the Garlic Gold was an okay change. I like the little crunchy bits. I think the reason I say that I prefer a sauce is because it feels like you’d have to add quite a bit of seasoning to have the vegetables seasoned all over. A sauce would do a better job of giving it a really flavorful punch.
But that’s just me.
The package I ordered from OpenSky had 4 different “flavors” in it, so I’m eager to sprinkle a little Garlic Gold on a salad and see how I like it. Either way, I think Garlic Gold is worth trying. It’s organic (bonus round!) and tasty.
I will say, however, that I was really unhappy with my OpenSky experience. I ordered the package way back in the beginning of November, and it took them almost six weeks to even ship it to me. Somewhere around the one-month mark I emailed customer service to tell them that if they didn’t ship it within the next day or two, to just go ahead and cancel my order. I mean, really? Four weeks for it to leave the warehouse? That’s just silly. I can order it on Amazon for about the same price and have it the next day. For free. Customer service never emailed me back…or maybe I just got an automated email to tell me that my item had shipped a few days later. I don’t exactly remember but at any rate, I finally got my package. And they only just charged my credit card last week…a full two and a half months after I made the purchase! Needless to say, I don’t think I’ll be ordering from OpenSky again.
But you can if you want to.
That’s it for this episode of Try Something New Tuesday! Coming up next week…something else new.
See ya!
