Well today marks the 5th weekly weigh-in on The Journey to Marvelous! Wow, it doesn’t really feel like I’ve been doing this for 5 weeks already. I honestly think this is my longest streak of mindful healthy habit-making in a LONG time, if not EVER. I’m still alive, not miserable, and I weigh…well, how many pounds lighter am I?
Luckily for you curious cats, today is weigh-in day!
Previous weight: 263.5 pounds
Today’s weight: 262.5 pounds
Loss this week of 1.0 pounds
Total weight loss to date: 20.5 pounds!
When I first weighed myself this morning, I was disappointed that I had only lost 1 pound this week. Then I decided that a pound lost is still a loss, and I’m not going to be disappointed about moving 1 pound closer to my goal. That said, I know that there are a couple of things going on that could have contributed to a lower than expected number this week:
Excuse #1: Aunt Flo is in town. I’ve got the TOTM bloat thing going on. (And I have a big zit on my chin—unrelated to the weigh-in but I feel compelled to whine about that too!)
Excuse #2: I ate out too many meals this week and didn’t eat enough leafy greens. Remember last week’s goal of only having one convenience meal this week? FAIL. I ate at Subway FOUR TIMES. The first time was during a super busy day at the office that left me no time for a homemade lunch. The next few were because I was crabby (see Excuse #1).
All in all, things could have been worse, really. At least I’m not eating greasy, fried fast food or huge pieces of chocolate cake every night like I used to! I am eating more fruit instead of sweets which is an accomplishment. I also did much better with my water intake than last week…I broke the 64 ounce mark most days! I definitely call that a win.
So! Goals for this week shall be:
Weekly Goal #1: Keep up with the 64+ ounce water intake per day. I’d like to work my way up to drinking a gallon a day without feeling like I’m drowning inside.
Weekly Goal #2: Must increase the leafy green intake, for Pete’s sake! (And my sake!) I’m going to replace one carbo-licious meal per day with a nice big salad. Something I haven’t done in a couple of weeks! (Eat salads, yes. Most days as a meal, no.)
One last note…I know I haven’t posted nutrition logs in a while. I have still been tracking all of my food on Sparkpeople, I swear! I just have been lazy and piecing together the screenshots of the log and posting them here. I also had a thought about the logs being a pretty boring read for anyone who might be perusing this blog. Then I had another thought…isn’t keeping myself accountable the reason why I started this whole thing in the first place? Well, yes, yes it is. So I’m going to start posting the logs again starting tomorrow. I might try and do it at the end of every day so I can just post them 1 at a time and not 5 at a time. That would probably be better from an accountability standpoint and will also look less cluttered on the blog.
Oh, and one last-last note…if you flip over to the Goals page (at the top of this page above the blog header), you’ll see that I got to cross off the “Lose 20″ pounds goal today. YIPPEEE! Over 20 pounds lost. That is simply rad if I may say so myself.
