Oy, the weekend has gotten away from me! I love long weekends because you have more time to relax and be productive, but when you feel like you have all the time in the world, you tend to procrastinate. Case in point…I’ve been meaning to recap the end of the week for 2 days. Now it’s Sunday evening…so I guess I better just get on to the most important Sunday topic! The weigh-in! (Will recap the rest of the week and weekend food tomorrow.)
Here are the stats for Weekly Weigh-In #11:
Starting weight: 283.0 pounds
Last week’s weight: 253.0 pounds
Today’s weight: 249.5 pounds
Loss this week of: 3.5 pounds
Total weight loss to date: 33.5 pounds
BOOM!!! 3.5 pound loss this week!! YIIPPPEEEEE!!!!
I think I’m onto something….this whole, planning-your-meals-ahead-of-time, cooking-at-home-and-not-eating-out thing WORKS! I really thought it would be more of a struggle than it really was. I mean, don’t get me wrong…I had some tough moments. There are times when I would usually just automatically eat out–like when I spend my lunch hour on Mondays with Trainer or when someone offers to treat me to Starbucks like my boss did earlier this week–but this week I really had it in the forefront of my mind to resist. I think that the fact that I was so determined to meet this goal made it a lot easier. The past few weeks, I set a weekly goal of eating out only once or twice a week, but I almost always ate out more than the goal amount. Maybe making it a black and white thing…eating out not at all instead of a certain alloted amount…made it easier not to cheat. I’m not sure. But, I’m thinking of making it a routine thing. Maybe no eating out during the week, and just splurging on my free day and eating out then? I don’t know. Something to consider.
Weekly Goals in Review:
Weekly Goal #1: Drink 64 ounces of water, at least, each day.
Eh. I tried to drink my water, but I don’t think I got in 64 ounces every day. (I did eat a lot of watermelon, but I guess that doesn’t count really…haha). I would say this goal wasn’t quite met.
Weekly Goal #2: Eat lunch at home every day.
Puhshaw, I BLEW this goal out of the water!! No eating out at all last week, save for 1 beer on Thursday night. But I resisted the pizza that was served with the beer, so I give myself an A++ for this weekly goal.
Weekly Goal #3: Walk 15 miles and go to my cardio kickboxing class.
15 miles? I really set that as a goal? Sheesh…haha. I was really ambitious. Let’s recap my activity for last week:
Sunday: Walked 5.5 miles
Monday: Did Tabata training with Trainer
Tuesday: Walked 3 miles–lots of hills
Wednesday: Kickboxing class
Thursday: Strength training and Tabata training with Trainer
Friday: Took the day off
Saturday: Walked 5.5 miles
Huh….so I did almost make my 15 mile goal! Whaddya know! 14 miles….no wonder I’m so tired…well anyway, I would say I just about met this goal. Round up!! Yep! I met this goal.
And now, some Weekly Goals for this week:
1. Get a massage. I’m still feeling the aftermath of the kink in my neck that I had two weeks ago…I want to start getting my body well-adjusted and ready for 13.1 miles of half-marathon torture in exactly 5 weeks! Seeing a chiropractor and/or getting a massage is definitely going to help.
2. Drink at least 64 ounces of water each day. (I know I sound like a broken record on this goal, and I can never seem to meet it, but like the no eating out goal—I’ll do it even if it kills me!)
3. Try 2 new recipes this week…I’ve been eating the same three things on rotation and it’s time to get some new foods up in here!
Have a good Labor Day….I’m going to go sleep of tonight’s sangria and rest up for a big training walk in the morning. Sweeeeeet dreams….
xoxo,
~Melissa

I love your blog. I have decided to do one of my own and I love that you list your overall goals and cross them off so you can physically see them as you accomplish them . I am not as brave as you to put my blog out there for everyone to see, so I am doing mine privately. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hey TC,
Thanks for your comment! Good luck with your blog and your journey. I can say that the support you get from the healthy living blogging community is really an invaluable resource and inspiration….but really, you write the blog for yourself and I can understand wanting to keep it private too. Coming clean about my unhealthy habits was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but once the ball gets rolling it snowballs. Now I don’t have any problem telling anyone how much I weigh. I control my own destiny now and that is such a freeing feeling that I never had before. I highly recommend it
Best of luck to you! I hope you come by my blog again and if you are ever willing to share yours, I’d love to check it out. Cheers!
~Melissa
