Hey, just because I was on a blogging hiatus for three weeks doesn’t mean I was on a weighing-in hiatus for three weeks. Let’s get you caught up on all of the action!

I said back in my Week 76 post, as the holidays got started, that my goal was simply to maintain my weight for the month of December. I didn’t have any grand illusions of dropping a lot of pounds during the holidays—I wanted to enjoy the parties, the holiday cookie onslaughts, and our traditional Christmas morning french toast breakfast without feeling like a total failure…and yet, I didn’t want to come out of it 10 pounds up, either.
In my Week 77 weigh in post, I recorded a slight 0.4 pound gain. The result of some extra hard workouts that week (I’d made a good effort to get in some extra workouts, which sometimes cause me to gain a couple of pounds initially)? Maybe simply a few extra cookies? Only time would tell…
And, well…I’m happy to be able to tell you now that the rest of the month was a success! Those extra workouts in Week 77 paid off with 2.1 pound loss the next week, regardless of the holiday dinners and fudge tastings. I continued the trend in Week 79, and even though I gained a little back in Week 80, I am optimistic about my results.
I had simply wanted to maintain my weight for December…but in actuality, I LOST weight in December. My weight on December 4th was 208.1 pounds…on December 31st I weighed in at 206.1 pounds. I count that as a huge win!
Now, I definitely indulged over the New Years weekend…I think a combination of those monthly cravings and also knowing that the arrival of January would mean really getting serious about my goals again. I hate to see myself revert back to a kind of disordered-eating mindset, but I definitely pulled a few, “I have to eat this now because I can’t eat it after tomorrow” ‘s last weekend. This week, though, I’ve definitely gotten back on track this week with healthy eating choices, so I’m interested in seeing what this weekend’s weigh in will bring!!
Here’s to success in January!
